14. The modern Ukrainian culture

In 1991 began a new period in the history of the Ukrainian people who rose to the development of independent , state. In global collaboration there is a new independent country. It happened in a few days after the failed Communist coup in Moscow on 19 August 1991, p.). The defeat of the Soviet centralism, the collapse of the Communist totalitarian regime opened the way for the Nations of the former USSR for self-determination. 24 August 1991 the Ukrainian Republican Parliament unanimously adopted the Act of independence of Ukraine: “on the Basis of mortal danger looming over Ukraine in connection with coup in the USSR on 19 August 1991, p., continuing the millennial tradition of the establishment of the state of Ukraine, proceeding from the right to self-determination under the UN Charter and other international legal documents, implementing the Declaration on state sovereignty of Ukraine, Supreme Council of Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic solemnly proclaims Ukraine’s independence and the creation of an independent Ukrainian state — Ukraine…” a National referendum in Ukraine on 1 December 1991, 90 percent of participants supported this Act.



The state independence opened Ukraine as a large European state the opportunity to establish direct mutually beneficial relations in all spheres of public life, with other countries, for its entry into the global socio-economic, cultural, educational, spiritual processes without Imperial interference of “big brother”.

The President of Ukraine Leonid Kuchma in a speech at the world summit (Copenhagen, March 1995 its) has stressed that Ukraine is now “… the challenge of a double transition: from totalitarian system to a democratic one and from decentralizovanno to a market economy. Before Ukraine, whose culture and language have undergone in those years, a crushing blow, there is one more vital task: to revive their national identity, to unite society around a national idea, to consolidate as a nation”
