The issue of sending a peacekeeping mission of the EU in Ukraine is discussed, but so far only on an informal level, told journalists in Brussels, a senior European diplomat.

“It is being discussed. There was no formal request, nothing is written”, he said, stressing that this refers only to an informal discussion.
The diplomat noted that now the main task remains the implementation of the Minsk agreements for peace in Eastern Ukraine, what is the key role to play monitoring mission of the OSCE.
“We have no plan no mission, firstly because there is no formal request,” he said.
Previously, the European Commissioner Johannes Hahn said that the EU discusses strengthening OSCE mission in Donbas, instead of sending peacekeepers there.
The decision to send peacekeepers to Eastern Ukraine must be supported by all five permanent members in the UN security Council, including Russia, which has veto power. Moscow and the separatists against the deployment of peacekeepers in the Donbas.
